IN KOSCIUSKO Women's Activities Women's Clubs Close Activities For Year KOSCIUSKO Highlighting the social scene here the past week were closing sessions of three women's clubs for this club year, a party for a brideelect, senior class festivities and other events. Entertaining the Samuel Hammond chapter of Daughters of American Revolution were Ackerman members, with the setting for the lovely party in the home of Mrs. Edgar Reid in Ackerman. Serving as co were Mrs. J.

S. Moore and Mrs. N. E. Sallis.

Cushion roses and magnolias were used in arttistic arrangements to decorate the reception rooms. New officers installed were Mrs. J. C. Cheek, regent; Mrs.

James Bruce, viceregent; Billie Wasson, secretary; Mrs. D. H. Glass, treasurer; Mrs. R.

L. Graham, registrar; Mrs. N. E. Sallis, chaplain; Miss Mabel Jamison, historian; Mrs.

J. S. Moore, librarian, and Mrs. Edgar Reid, parliamentarian. Announced by Mrs.

Cheek, the new regent were standing committee chairmen for the coming year. They are: Mrs. Billie Wasson, American Indians; Miss Eleanor Guyton, American music; Mrs. Leon Kennedy, Americanism; Mrs. E.

Reid, D. A. R. approved schools; Mrs. E.

C. Fenwick, CAR; Mrs. J. McCaf- er. Others serving a second year are Mrs.

N. McCool, parliamentarian. A smorgasbord marked the closing session of the New Century club for the year, with the home of Mrs. Billy McMillan in Highland Park as the setting. New officers installed were Mrs.

C. Love, treasurer; Mrs. G. D. Carnathan, secretary; serving a second year Mrs.

Billy Leonard, president: Mrs. Gordon Misch, historian and Mrs. Billy McMillan, reporter. The Ben Scarboroughs of Kosciusko were guest artists for Thursday's meeting of the Sallis Twentieth Century club in the home of Mrs. R.

T. Woodard in Sallis. A varied program was presented by Mrs. Scarborough, pianists. Introducing the artist was Miss Mary McClintock.

Opening devotional was given by Miss Gladys Boyett. Mrs. H. E. Jenannounced that the spring luncheon would be held May 24 in the annex of the Methodist church.

Miss Julie Pearson, bride-elect of John Rowan Smith III of New Orleans, was complimented with a tea shower in the home of Mrs. Loftin Steed. Co-hostesses were Mrs. W. A.

Albert Stanley have returned from a plane trip to Los Angeles, Calif. and other places of interest in the West. They visited the Painted Desert, the Petrified Forest, the Grand Can- yon in Arizona, also Hoover Dam. While in Los Angeles they toured Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Disneyland and the Knotts Berry Farm. Kosciuskoans are congratulating Mrs.

Eleanor Brooks Scruby for her fine record at Mississippi State university where she is a graduating senior in the commercial division of the Industrial Education department. presented the United Business Education association's award of merit for outstanding achievement in business education. Mrs. Scruby, a member of Kappa Delta Pi, honorary education fraternity, has been a President's Scholar for the past three semester. Old Ladies Home The board of managers of the Old Ladies home will meet at 10 a.m.

At present she is a member of the McLeod School faculty, Jackson. Mr. Dyer was graduated from Gary High school, Idabel, Okla. After high school graduation he entered the United States Air Force and served in SAC for four years.
